Gathering Season is Here!
Hey there! My name is Lisa, and I am the owner and designer behind The Boho Barn. It all began in 2012 when I decided to embark on event planning and décor with a small business I named Stellar Soirée. For several years, I enjoyed working my 9-5, being a mom, and on the side, designing a variety of event décor and unique favors. I had always dreamed of quitting my day job and starting my own event-planning business. Although it could have become a reality back then, I struggled; I didn't just want a business, but I wanted my talents to also serve a purpose. After planning several large-scale events for family and friends, I realized what my work lacked. I needed to offer something different, meaningful, and humble. I began to appreciate the deeper sense of connection between humans when events were not so loud and extravagant, but intimate and personal. I found my niche, designing captivating concepts for smaller gatherings. Not only would I be designing concepts, but I would also influence more meaningful celebrations. Nothing made me feel more complete than seeing others connect more profoundly over table settings and dreamy creations I made just for them to do that.
In 2019, I was engaged to my now husband. My husband and I are hippie souls. Our perfect downtime is to venture out into the country to search for some artsy and unique things to do. Coffee, nature, country, and farm life, are all simple things that we enjoy. We both share the same love for aesthetics. It was a no-brainer we were having the glam barn wedding of our dreams but first, a pandemic.
Our wedding was planned for 2021. Side note, I wanted to get married on 10/10/2020, but my husband thought a one-year engagement was too short. Covid hit after we had decided on the date, and luckily we waited because we gave ourselves another year for things to pass. So, I kept busy while in quarantine, planning my wedding (very early), and deciding how I could make my chosen bridesmaids feel extra special when I popped the question to them! That October, I was celebrating my 40th birthday and thought it would be a great way to get them to come over. There's something so humbling about bohemian culture and style, and so I decided to celebrate with a boho-style picnic and make it a bubbly brunch for my "bride tribe." I searched all over for event rentals and designers to help, but at that time, no one offered this style of setup in my area. That's when the event planner in me came back out and took action. My husband and I built our first low-profile table, and I ordered my first tent. I got some pillows, and we gathered all the decorative items at local yard sales, and on 10/10/2020, it all came together. Beautiful photos were captured by my photographer friend, and those who caught a glimpse of the event encouraged me to revisit my passion for event design. That's when The Boho Barn was born.
